In 2007, a Transfer of Wealth Study funded by Iowa West Foundation explored the availability of charitable donations in the Pottawattamie County area. The study found that a community foundation, which allows donations to be fully deductible and eligible for tax credits, would provide a new way for area residents to keep wealth here and meet future needs in the community.

As a result, the Pottawattamie County Community Foundation (PCCF) was formed with a $6 million pledge made by Iowa West in 2008 to promote local philanthropy. PCCF is a partnership of rural and urban citizens dedicated to improving the lives of residents in the county’s communities. Individuals, families, businesses, communities, and organizations can create permanent charitable funds through the PCCF. These funds help meet emerging needs and the challenges of changing times in the region.
