Where are you from?
I grew up on a farm in the northwest region of Pottawattamie County. I now live in Missouri Valley.
Describe your role at the Foundation in a tweet (280 character limit):
Assist with the grantmaking process, provide a connection between grants staff and other staff members, and oversee the grants management software. I’m also the voice you hear when you call our main phone line.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
It’s a pleasure to talk with our grantees. I love to meet new people and learn what they do and why. I have discovered there are many people in the community who are very passionate about the work that is being done locally and in rural areas.
What is one of the toughest challenges about your work?
It seems that I learn something new every day, which means we are always improving the grants and initiatives process. We need to make sure our grantees stay updated and always encourage them to visit our website and follow us on social media.
Where is your favorite place in Council Bluffs or Pottawattamie County and why?
I enjoy the outdoors and Council Bluffs has many beautiful parks and trails.
Who in the community inspires you?
Being the first person you see when you walk in the office has given me the opportunity to meet many individuals within the community. Those people wouldn’t be visiting the Foundation if they did not care about what happens, not only in their neighborhoods but throughout the community. It’s those types of people that inspire me.
What would you like people reading this to know about the Foundation?
I would like people to know that the Foundation as a whole truly cares about the community, shown by the numerous generous grants and initiatives given over the years.
A fun fact about you:
I have three beautiful granddaughters and love spending time with them. I also enjoy flower gardening.
In 10 years, the transformational change I hope to see happen in the region:
Completed trails, both in the city and in the rural areas as well as the community continuing to development and move forward.
